Bangkok Taste (Review #2) - Santa Ana

October 22, 2008 · Filed Under OC Food Reviews · Comment

This review has been sitting in my queue for awhile to where I can’t even remember much about the exacts.  I do know that both myself and the Mrs. enjoyed our meal.  Mrs. DanGarion isn’t normally a big fan of Asian food so I always jump at the chance to expand her tastes when she lets me!  I have previously reviewed Bangkok Taste a couple months back, this most recent experience was just as good.

Here are the pictures I took.

Bangkok Taste - Santa Ana

Ok, so in my lifetime I can count the number of restaurants I’ve gone to on only 2 hands.  Up until about 6 years ago I had never experienced Food.  So far in that time I’ve become a big fan of Cha on Chapman in , but after my first visit to Bangkok , I think I have found another good restaurant here behind the Curtain.

Bangkok is a very unassuming place.  Located right off the 22 Freeway in a small strip mall that includes a Big Lots!  Not every restaurant can be in a huge upscale shopping center, heck the best places usually are small tucked away places in nondescript locations.
Masum Curry Chicken with White Rice
Being that this was my first visit, I can’t fully give a review, but I will review them based on my first experience.  There are two normal meals I get when I go , Chicken Pad or Red Curry Chicken.  I decided to throw that completely out the window and try something different; I order Masum Curry with Chicken.  It was a much milder version of curry compared to the normal Red Curry that I would usually order.  As explained in their menu Masum Curry is a mild curry served with potatoes, onions, and peanuts.  It didn’t disappoint.  Although it was mild, it had a lingering spiciness in the background that made me crave more.  I’m not sure how most people eat their curry, but I usually scoop it out over my rice andMasum Curry Chicken eat it sort of like gravy over my rice.  The problem I ran into is that they give you a full size bowl of curry, which is more than the rice could handle alone.  My rice soon was gone and I was left with nearly a half a bowl of curry, so I just started to eat it like a soup; a nice spicy soup, in fact if reminded me a little of my Cajun soup from Madam Jo Jo’s in Long Beach.  I can’t wait to try other dishes.  Now that I finally made it over to Bangkok Taste after only living 1 minute away for the past two years, I might add it to my normal rotation of meals that I have on Saturdays while Mrs. DanGarion is off at work.

Service was great; I was the only customer so it wasn’t difficult for the waiter to take care of me.  Restaurant is very clean and nicely lit.  They have about 9 tables that seat 4 each.  And from what I’ve read from other reviewers they do a lot of take out service as well.

Cha Thai Restaurant - Orange

I usually go to Cha once of twice a month as a change in the normal workday lunch experience. My favorite dish to get is the Red Curry Chicken, which is excellent. I’ve gone to other restaurants and they have been bland and tasteless, but Cha ’s red curry has magnificent flavor. I’ve also tried the Chicken Pad and it’s delicious. The lunch special portions are generous and the service is nice. Gets very busy at 12 PM so I’m glad my lunch is at 11.

Thai Lingo - Anaheim

Their food is nothing special. I ordered the Red Curry Chicken and the only thing it tasted like was salt. I could barely taste the curry and the curry was more of a yellow/ color. I wasn’t impressed, especially after all the rave reviews that tempted me to try them.

Even for $4.95 I just can’t advise anyone to go here. If the curry wasn’t so salty I would possibly try them again some other time, but with the saltiness all I can thing of is they are trying to hide the lack of quality food.

Service was also subpar, especially considering it was not busy (only 5 tables used).

You are better off going to and having Cha .
