oh i hear ya… the boy and i never get to enjoy happy hour anymore =(
they move away all the tables and chairs outside after 10, and all the hipsters come in to dance to some funky indie music. or krunk music, depending on the week.

I’ve never been to Memphis for food…only for drinks/music/dancing. I’ll have to mosey on down there and try it out some time.

@ila: Yes, I’ve heard that the appetizers are half off, that’s a big plus! That’s one of our favorite things to do is go to happy hour, but it’s a little ough with my wife’s work. We own a dog grooming shop and since she’s the boss she is there till the close of business, plus she gets dirty. So normally we aren’t ready to go out to dinner till 6:30 or so, which is too late for most happy hours!

But we try to have happy hour once a month if possible.

@http://elmomonster.blogspot.com/: Exactly Blake's Place is the best in OC and honestly has been for a long time when it comes to smoked ribs. If you are looking just for the cooked variety Tulsa Rib Company, in Orange is great as well.

I love Memphis! I used to go there a lot for drinks, but I really do love their meatloaf stack.
You should try going during happy hour, because appetizers are all half off.

My impression is just like yours. Kind of a soggy mess…I like my ribs caramelized and slightly burnt. I can’t say it’s bad, but I prefer my new favorite, Blake’s Place!

We live right near the Tustin Brewing Company and enjoy their food quite a bit when we are in the mood for a game, beer and “bar food.” Their menu has a lot of diversity, so there’s something there for everyone. We tend to be put-off, however, by the service. They are not very friendly or have consistent service. We have been going for over (4) years now; it gets better and then it gets worse again. Not sure if you have had the same experience. We do enjoy the salads, pizza and the pesto chicken pasta is my fiance’s favorite meal there!

I really used to like Wingnuts http://www.wingnuts.biz/ over in Costa Mesa, but they disappointed me the last time we went there, they had less flavor. Hope they are better then next time. Actually I sort of like the wings at Hooters, you can get them naked as well, which cuts out all the breading, I liked them the last time I had them. I’m pretty easy to please when it comes to wings.
