The Filling Station - Orange
My fiancee and I went here for breakfast on Sunday and it was delicious. I ordered the Eggs Florentine and she had a Breakfast Burrito. The eggs were perfect the portion was huge, it came with 4 slices of bacon. The iced tea tasted really good as well. I’ve ate there in the past for lunch getting a hamburger which was huge and really good. This place specializes in great food. You also get one of the best views around because it’s near the circle in Orange.
The service was good. The price was great, less then 8 bucks for breakfast is cheap, unless you are comparing it fast food.
Another thing we noticed is they are dog friendly. If you bring your best friend with you they will ask you if you’d like a bowl of water. Next time we are bring our dog with us.
My only complaint is their limited hours of only breakfast and lunch, I’d love to have a burger there for dinner sometime.

Senor Ruben’s - Fountain Valley (CLOSED)
From the start of the meal to the end everything was delicious. We received a fresh order of chips and some of the best salsa I’ve had from a Mexican restaurant. The salsa wasn’t plain and drab like many places can be. It had lots of flavor and just a little bit of spice, it could have been hotter but it was perfect for what it was. For my meal I got the Flautas Dinner which came with two flautas covered in sour cream, guacamole, and cheese, and a side of rice and beans. The flautas were excellent although there was a bit more sour cream then I really needed. The beans were different in a very good way, they had a slight red color to them and tasted great. The rice was standard fare but very good. My fiancee had a veggie burrito which she enjoyed but need to flavor up a bit with the salsa (which I also did with my flautas, because the salsa was tasty!).
I’ve passed this Mexican restaurant numerous times, both the Fountain Valley and the Orange locations. They have been in the Entertainment Guide coupon book for the last couple years but I was never really sure because I can be picky with Mexican food. But now I’m hooked. It’s up there with my other favorite Mexican food establishments.
Service was very nice. They came around a couple times to make sure everything was good and that our drinks were taken care of. It was a great dinner.

Taco Mesa - Orange
Taco Mesa serves some of the best food you are going to find in all of Orange County. They serve “healthy” Mexican food that borders on Tex-Mex but is pretty authentic. So far I have yet to try something that I haven’t liked. Try the Blackened Chicken Burrito and get a side of vegetarian rice, you will not be disappointed. They have a couple daily specials that you can’t get all the time. All the food is fresh and made to order. They also have a fresh salsa bar and can make fresh guacamole to order.
Don’t expect a typical “sit down” restaurant feel, think more like a Rubios/Baja Fresh.
The employees are very nice and have never had any problems with special requests.
Update 12/2006 - We love going here at least once a month. So much good food. I recommend getting the blackened chicken tacos, but you can’t go wrong with anything here!

Try their breakfast, their chorizo breakfast burrito is pure bliss!

Los Cabos Mexican Restaurant - Orange
Los Cabos has great fajitas which is what I normally order when we go there. The portion is big and they make sure you have all the fixings needed to make they great. They also have a great vegetarian menu which includes Potato Tacos that my girlfriend just loves. Service has always been good and the owner usually comes by to see how his customers meals are going. A very good place to eat that will never disappoint.
And they have good chips and salsa.
Update 12/2006 - This continues to be one of the greatest Mexican places in Orange. We went to a place down the street because they were too busy one night and we were so disappointed. No matter how busy it is Los Cabos is always worth the wait.

Tom’s Tacos - Anaheim
Prety good stuff. Although IMO it’s not entirely authentic, the food is good and everything has above average taste.
I usually get a beef and cheese burrito and then one taco (chicken / beef, doesn’t really matter they taste about the same). I wish they had soft tacos though, they only have fried tacos that they prefreeze.
Very good salsa to go along with daily fresh chips.

Azteca Mexican Restaurant - Garden Grove
I really like this place. I’ve gone to Azteca twice now and I’ve become a huge fan. My last visit I ordered the carnitas plate and it was probably the best carnitas I’ve ever had. The meat was perfect and delicious.

Los Sanchez - Garden Grove
Los Sanchez! How great it is to have you back in this world. This place is packed during lunch and dinner time so be prepared or just have a late lunch.
Food is always served fresh and with lots of flavor. Beans aren’t the best but who really goes to a mexican place for beans?
I’ve tried a couple different plates and have enjoyed them all. Really like their packed tacos, yum.
Not to mention the staple of Los Sanchez hearing the guy call out your number.
