Johnny Rebs’ - Orange
This is one of our favorite places to go for breakfast. They have a great selection of breakfast to choose from and so far we have never been disappointed. My wife loves the sausage biscuit sandwich, which is made with a delicious homemade style sausage and probably the best biscuit you can get in any restaurant in Orange County. I always get something different every time we go there. Last time I got eggs and bacon.
As for dinner they serve some great BBQ. It’s been awhile since I’ve gone there for dinner but I’ve had a couple different dinners and all of them were great. One of my favorites is their sweet potato fries! They are so tasty and sweet and a delicious alternative to having regular old french fries.

Ugly Mug Cafe - Orange
I’d love to review this place. But unfortunately we have never been able to get service here. We came by one Saturday night and no one was at the counter to take our order. We stood around and waited for about 10 minutes and we even made some noise in case someone was sleeping on the job, but no dice.
Oh well. It seems like a pretty neat place, they have live music and things going on but why should we waste our time if they have their door open but no one there to serve you. I wish I knew how to run their machines I would have just made my drink myself…
Although I haven’t met the guy (since he never served us) I have heard various stories like the one from Dixon, from other business owners in the area. Oh well, I’m sure he loses business because of his attitude.

Gabbi’s Mexican Kitchen - Orange
Great place to get some quality Mexican food. My wife and I went there last night and were thoroughly impressed. I had the Burrito Estilo Edurado along with a Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse Dunkel, the burrito was delicious with hints of smokiness and served with a fresh cut of avocado on top and guacamole on the side. My wife had the Chicken Tacos Dorados along with a raspberry margarita, the tacos were topped with a creamy queso fresco and a cut of avocado. The wait staff was terrific, our waiter came by and asked about our drinks and told me a little about the Hefe-Weisse I was drinking, explaining that is was a German beer and I mentioned I was impressed by the darker then usual color and lack of bitterness.
We had a great experience and will definitely be going here again for dinner.

Alcatraz Brewing Company - Orange
Out of all the places to eat at the Block that I’ve tried this is my favorite to go to. The food is above average and they have a nice selection of their own brewed beer. I enjoyed a Hefewiezen the last time we were there. We just went there a couple weeks ago after catching a movie. I ordered the Ruben, which was really good, although I think it was served dry, which was different, but still delicious, along with the sandwich were sweet potato fries which are always a great change of pace compared to the regular variety. My wife and mother in law ordered the fish and chips which weren’t quite as good as the ones up in Morro Bay but were pretty close.
The service has been good every time we have gone. They always make sure we are taken care of and that our drinks aren’t running low.

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse - Huntington Beach
I will preface this review with this.
*MY WIFE HATES DOUGHY PIZZA!*
With that said she loves BJ’s Chicago style pizza. It’s our favorite pizza to eat and the price is right. We can get a small pizza, caesar salad, a beer, and another drink for under $25. And when we leave we are fully satisfied with the size of our meal. We usually order the veggie combination with extra sauce and it always comes out great. I’ve tried most of their beers and my favorite is the Hefewiezen, but I’m a big fan of Hefe’s. Also one of my wife’s favorite things to get there is the Framboise that they have, it’s a delicious Belgium beer that has berry added to it after the brewing process.
The atmosphere is that of a sports bar if you are sitting in the main area next to the bar, they have a large screen that shows 4 sports channels at the same time. Appetizers are great, with my favorite being the avocado eggrolls and the spinach with artichoke dip.
We have never had any issues with the wait staff and they have always been able to handle any special requests we make in the years we have gone here.

Pacific Coast Hot Dogs - Orange
Category: Hot Dogs
PCH by far makes the most delicious chili dogs in the world. I never had a chili dog with mustard till I went to PCH, but now I can’t think of another way to do it. Other dogs are pretty good, but I’d rather get a chili dog with cheese!

Hollingshead’s Delicatessen - Orange
Hollingshead is a great family owned place that is completely out of the ordinary compared to the rest of Orange County. The place the filled to the rafters with beer from all over the world. They make killed sandwiches that you can enjoy there while you drink your beer choice.
There isn’t much more to say after reading the other reviews. This is a true gem in Southern California.
